Executive Director

Patrick has been with One Heartland since May of 2006—and has served as the Executive Director since January, 2011. In his tenure as Executive Director, he has strengthened and grown our camps and programs by creating a culture of financial transparency and ensuring that we have the resources necessary to send as many kids to camp as possible. A camp and outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys spending time at his cabin in northern Minnesota.

Katie has been with One Heartland since December of 2010 and manages the One Heartland head office. She is a master juggler—handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources and the donor database—among other tasks. She lives in Northeast Minneapolis with her husband and son, Thomas. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and gardening.

Justine Ellingson

Registration and Travel Manager

Justine worked for One Heartland in 2004 as the Challenge Course Coordinator and has come back and been with One Heartland since March 2017. She is tasked with bringing all of One Heartland’s participants to camp each year. Justine works with various referral organizations to spread the word about camp, communicates with all One Heartland families regarding registration and travel arrangements and often greets campers as they walk off the plane. When she’s not knee deep in paperwork, booking flights or spending long days and nights at the airport, Justine can be found with her two boys. Justine is originally from New Zealand and lives with her husband and boys in Moose Lake.  She loves being outdoors and especially spending time at the lake.

Janae Gresczyk

Program Assistant

Janae joined One Heartland in April 2017. She works with the Camp Director and Program Coordinator to assist with recruitment, human resources, user group management and administrative needs. When she’s not at work she enjoys hiking, fishing, kayaking, traveling, cooking and spending time with her husband and kids. Janae is from Ohio and likes to travel back home a couple times a year to visit her family.

Emily James

Grants and Communications Coordinator

Emily joined One Heartland in October 2017. As Grants and Communications Coordinator, Emily writes grants, creates communication materials, and manages social media for One Heartland. She is originally from Wisconsin and graduated from UW-Madison in 2016 with a degree in Community & Nonprofit Leadership. After an adventurous year living in Los Angeles she and her husband Zach have relocated closer to home. In her spare time Emily enjoys goofing around with Zach, taking spin classes, and daydreaming about her future dog.

Program Coordinator

Allison volunteered as a summer counselor at One Heartland from 2012-2014. Captivated by the magic of camp, Allison became the year-round program coordinator in October 2014. She plans and implements camp logistics—including staff recruitment, program design, and volunteer supervision. She loves to play sports, laugh (a lot), read, learn anything new, stay connected with family and friends and, of course, experience the magic of camp.

Kelly Knapp

Development Assistant

Kelly joined One Heartland in August 2017. Kelly helps coordinate One Heartland events and assists with database management and annual donor correspondence. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Nonprofit Leadership & Management. When she’s not at work or school, she likes to travel, spend  time with friends and family, camp, cook, and do crafts. She lives in Saint Paul with her small dog, Gannicus.

Tony Koecher

Facility Manager

Tony has been with One Heartland since May of 2001. As the facility manager at One Heartland’s flagship camp in Willow River, Minn., Tony takes care of the grounds, buildings and rentals, works with volunteer groups, and helps out with aspects of program. On top of all his normal tasks, he can often be found driving to camp on his days off to plow snow, mow the lawn or tend to the goats. He also is well known among our campers for his willingness to pass on much needed life skills. When Tony is not at camp, he enjoys finding collectibles, woodworking, and playing and watching sports with his two sons.

Major Gifts Officer/National Giving

Susan has been with One Heartland for over 20 years—longer than any other employee. She has helped guide the organization through every change, and has established and maintained relationships with countless and invaluable partner organizations (including the Minnesota Twins!). Today she offices out of her home in Vermont where she serves as One Heartland’s Chief “Friendraiser,” raising awareness and funds for our programs and developing partnerships to help One Heartland continue to prosper. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, as well as traveling, camping and exploring Vermont.

Jill Rudolph

National Camp Director

Jill has been part of the program team at One Heartland since 2008. She has the privilege of working with an amazing program team that creates the “magic” of camp. She oversees all aspects of our programs and facility needs. She spends a lot of time at her desk or in meetings but thoroughly enjoys the times she gets to sneak in a conversation with a valued volunteer, be part of a theme event or introduce a participant to a new skill like canoeing. Her personal life reflects her love for camp by enjoying hikes, bike rides, camping trips and many craft hobbies. She loves traveling but is completely content hanging at home with her mastiffs and the camp goats.

Stefanie Tywater-Christiansen

Development Manager

Stefanie has been with One Heartland since November 2007. She started as the registration and travel manager before moving to her new role as development manager. Stefanie oversees the development initiatives of the organization including donor relationships,  events, mailings, and grants. When she’s not at work, Stefanie can be found with her nose in a book. She lives south of the Twin Cities with her husband, their dog, Sadie, and their two children, Cooper and Quinn, who love impromptu dance parties in their living room.
