For youth struggling to achieve a healthy weight
Camp 5210 2015 will be held on June 15-20. Click here to pre-register for the 2015 camp season.
Camp 5210 is for kids ages 7-17 who are struggling to achieve a healthy weight. Participants' families are also invited to camp for two days and one night, as learning how to eat a healthy diet requires support from the entire family.
Participants will receive health education courses - excercise and meal planning, social support and hands-on cooking - as well as opportunities to engage in tradtional camp activities such as fishing, swimming, climbing tower and drama. There are also programs every evening and early bird activities each morning.
"5210" refers to simple ways to live healthier: FIVE: eat five or more fruits or veggies a day. TWO: Limit TV and computer time to two or less hours a day. ONE: Get one or more hours of physical activity each day. ZERO: Cut back to zero sugary beverages.
Camp 5210 is held at the One Heartland Center and is located 90 minutes north of the Twin Cities. Campers stay in cabins with electricity; three bathhouses provide individual showers and flush toilets. Parents stay in a dorm-style facility separate from kids. Set on 93-acres of beautiful wilderness, the property also includes three lakes, hiking trails, a swimming pool, 30-foot climbing wall, baseball diamond, high ropes course and much more.
